  • Dr. David Brown BVSC (HONS1) BSC


    David spent the first 10 years of his professional life as a pilot in the Royal Australian Air Force. After serving on humanitarian missions in Australia, New Guinea and on active service with Australia and the United Nations in East Timor, David decided to spend more time with his young family and pursue his other passion of veterinary care. Since graduating top of his class from the University of Queensland in 2006, David has spent his time working in small animal practices, assisting in veterinary specialist centres and operating a mobile veterinary business before opening Warners Bay Vet. David maintains regular contact with veterinary colleagues and referral specialists around Australia and has a keen interest in small animal surgery.

  • Dr. Lee Anthony BVSc (Hons 1)


    Lee graduated from the University of Queensland in 2002 with first class honours. After graduation she worked in small animal practices in Victoria and the United Kingdom. On return to Australia, Lee worked in Brisbane and undertook a 12 month internship at the Veterinary Specialist Services Clinic.  Here she gained further training in Surgery, Medicine and Critical Care.  In 2015 Lee along with her husband and young children moved to Newcastle to be closer to family.  Lee’s area of interest include: Internal Medicine, Soft Tissue Surgery, Imaging and Ophthalmology.

  • Dr. Sarah Hayes B Vet Biol, DVM


    Sarah grew up in Wauchope NSW and always wanted to be a Veterinarian.  After graduating from the University of Sydney, she spent a short time in mixed animal practice before deciding to focus her skills on companion animals.  She loves surgery, solving problems and talking to people about their pets.  Sarah spends her spare time playing soccer, going to the beach and taking care of her bunnies, MJ and Pip.

  • Jessica Smallwood VN Cert IV

    Practice Manager

    Introducing Jessica our Practice Manager and one of our Certificate 4 Veterinary Nurses. Jessica grew up in the Newcastle area and has always loved animals. Ever since she could remember she has wanted to be involved in the animal care industry. When not helping run the practice, Jess has a special interest in surgery and offering advice to our friendly clients. In her spare time you will find Jessica split between caring for her family, looking after Norman her energetic Labrador or catching up with friends. Come say ‘Hi’ next time you’re in the clinic!

  • Elysha Maxwell VN Cert IV

    Vet Nurse

    Elysha was born and raised in the Lake Macquarie Region.  After studying for her Bachelor of Nursing she decided to instead pursue her true passion and love for animals and become a Veterinary Nurse.  Elysha has three pets, her dog Tobee, a cheeky parrot named Dobby, and her horse Leroy.  She enjoys  competition riding on Leroy,  playing fetch with Tobee or spending some quality time with her partner.  Come in and say ‘Hi’ to Elysha next time you are in the clinic.

  • Katie Smee VN Cert IV

    Vet Nurse

    Katie recently joined the team at Warners Bay Vet after moving down from her home town of Maitland to live by the Lake.  Ever since Katie can remember she has always wanted a career where she could work with and care for animals. Katie enjoys all aspects of Veterinary Nursing and Customer Care. When not at work Katie divides her time between her two dogs (Lucy and Poppie) and cat (Charlie), competitive sprint training and is also a passionate supporter of the Newcastle Jets.  When next in the clinic come and say ‘Hi’ to Katie.

  • Chantal Smith VN

    Vet Nurse

    Chantal is one of our newest staff members.  She grew up in country New South Wales and has always had a passion for all things animal.  Her initial Veterinary Nursing career began working for another Dr David Brown at Kiama Veterinary Clinic, before taking a break to raise two lovely children and help out the family business.  Her love for animals has brought her back to the profession joining the team at Warners Bay Vet.  Chantal is a great all rounder, more than happy to help clientele with any advice whilst on reception, assisting the Veterinarians with surgical cases or providing that much needed support to our hospital patients.  When not in the clinic Chantal can be found spending time with her family, looking after her pets Remy and Ziggy or helping renovate the family home.  Any time you are in the clinic feel free to ask to talk to Chantal.
